Further to other answers given, not only can CIFAS fraud warnings be applied, but they are also entitled to issue a default notice - even if you have kept the account in good order.
They can then close your facility, insisting on immediate (within 5 working days) repayment of funds. Failure to do so (because you are on holiday, say) = another default and selling of the debt to a debt mgt co.
They then write to you once before they apply to the county court, which will generally make a passing attempt to contact you - ie one letter - before passing a summary judgement against you..........assuming you are still on holiday!!!
So, your one lie has got you CIFAS registered, Two default notices and a CCJ............ok, a worst case scenario but still not a desirable outcome!
