Discounting items

Jun 25, 2005 3 Replies

We are new to RMS and have a large tent sale coming up where we will be offering discounts on items. In our old POS program as we scanned each item we could then tab over and enter the % off. It appears this is not an option in our new software and the discounting routine it does off seems rather restricting and time consuming. Is there a short cut or macro that can be used short of entering a discount amount for each and every item. There will hundreds and hundreds of items offered in this sale.

tab over to the price and hit SHIFT F3. You can enter % off current price. It also allows you do multiple discount for several items on the same transaction.

You can also setup macros for discounts. Everything we discount is either 10%, 20%, 30%, etc... so we've setup Alt-F1 for 10%, Alt-F2 for

20%, etc. This way, the cashier can ring up an item, press Alt-F5 and have 50% off that item. When setting up the macros, we just used a sequence as follows:

Up Arrow (to move to the last product) Discount Button Type 20% (or 30, etc) Enter Down Arrow (so you're ready to ring up another item)
