find window problems

When we try to find an item in Pos and then hit escape to close the find window, it puts an item into the transaction . It's always the same item, even though this item is in the middle of the items, not at the beginning or end. This started happening after we upgraded to 1.3R. It's causing a problem when we're busy, since we don't always catch it until after we print a receipt. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening, and how we can stop it? Craig

Craig,

Can't duplicate it here.

How are the following items marked in Manager | Configuration | Options tab | Items options;

Always display 'Find' ... Display out of stock Display unknown item Look up unknown items

I have them all checked except for the first normally, although I think I have tried all combos!

Craig,

Anything special or different about the ILC or Description that it selects? Any special characters in either?

Try go into the Item properties of the item, change anything about the item, like the bar code format and save it.

If in POS, exit and re-enter the POS again and see if it happens still.

Change the property back to what it was.

Craig,

Also, any hotfixes installed? I'm running 1.3.1003.

Jeff, It's an 11 digit numerical ILC, no special characters. It happens on both my live database and my test database. Both machines have 1.3.1004 installed, but it started happening right after we installed 1.3.1002. The ILC is

Craig,

You said your test database. Is that a copied database of your products or is it the RMS sample database? Try the RMS sample db.

To use the RMS sample database, create a new database in Admin and point it to the rmssample.bck in the DBFiles folder.

Try going back to the Sample database and setting all of the same options in File/Configuration as you use in your live database. This is a behavior - it's more likely to be the result of option selections than of any particular item data...

Craig,

Any add-ons or custom triggers?

Went and made all options the same in sample database as my live database, still didn't react the same as my live database. No, I don't have any addons or custom triggers installed. BTW, thanks for looking into this. Craig "Glenn Adams [MVP - Retail Mgmt]" wrote in message news: snipped-for-privacy@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl...
