how does offline databases affect the licensing?

If I've got a client with a 2 lane license, one register and one laptop, and the laptop goes offline to a show, can another computer use the lane license at the store while it is gone??

And if not, then having the laptop was a mistake, how do you undo it? connect the laptop, getting it online, but don't z out again?? or ?? I can't find answers anywhere to the offline/lane issues that I am being asked.

Peter,

If you attempting to use a computer with the same register # as the laptop, then no. Otherwise, use a different register # and I _think_ you be OK. You can only use 2 machines on the POS at once.

To get the laptop "emptied" of sales, do a zout and that will clear the database.

I would test everything using the demo database just to make sure.

well, I would sort of agree, It's sort of a bizarre mind twist to think how multiple computers could all get on as register 2 one at a time, then all work offline, each connecting one at a time to update.

thanks for the reply.

The real reason I'm calling is that I've got a client that has a four user license but the software is telling him that he has used up all four lanes when the fourth one is trying to get connected, so he can only connect 3, doesn't matter which 3 connect first.

Peter,

Double check that A) you haven't duped the register number, B) that its a real 4 user license (Help | About | License). The ability to have 4 lane license is a relatively new option, only since June I think. Until then it was 1 lane, 3 lanes, 9 lanes and so on
