RMS Offline Database

Hi All -

It's been a while since I created the RMS offline database. If someone has the steps I'd appreciate it.

I created one but something isn't right. After the Z report the register tries to sync with the online database but results in the following error:

********************************************************************************************* Run-time error '-2147217900 (80040e14)':
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()),]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Any ideas? I thought I had created the offline database correctly, using the servername as (local) as using the supplied rmsdb.bck to create the offline database. It is setup in the Store Administrator and the test connect works properly.

It sounds like it is the server that is the problem, not the database. Are you running a server locally on the register? Make sure you install and run your server software on the register PC and set the server for the offline database to the local server. You probably opened the database with your regular server, so it tested OK.

The database is on another server and I'm sure I created the offline database local (local). If thought I was really careful to connect locally to create the offline database.

Jerry,

I just remembered that I initially had problems with Offline and I had to manually open a port in the Windows Firewall for it to work. Port#: 1434, UDP

Have you tried to contact the customer support team? I have used them many times and they are very helpful. They have different levels of support members to help even the most complicated questions and problems regarding their POS Software.
