Practicing then deleting

Jul 29, 2006 5 Replies

Can I train my employees by running practice transactions and practice POs, then delete all of them when we are ready to go live?

Also, we are going to go live before we have every item in the database. Can we create a MISC ITEM and use that for items that are purchased that are not in the database? Any bad things about that?

You can't really delete transactions very easily. You can void them. You could create a practice customer account - or even better, a training database - and delete the customer/database when you go live.

Using a non-inventory MISC SKU is fine for completing transactions quickly but doesn't do much for your inventory control problems (I have the same problems here).

There is a utility in Store Operations Admin | Database | Delete all transactions It leaves the items and stucture. That may be of some use to you.

Be warned, if you have valid PO's they will also be deleted.

Thanks Guys,

Nothing is real yet except the items and suppliers.

Mickie,

I have 2 suggestions for u.

1 ==Create a Sample Database. While creating select SampleDB.bck file from DBFiles folder & do transactions as many you can. When u finish you Testing simply delete the database :)

2 ==Create SO Sample/Scratch/Template Database from SO Administrator OR If u have already created your SO Database then use that DB in the Head Quarter Administrator.Go through Online Help "Bring Store Online if u have no store up".Follow that guideline. Make Dummy stores in the HQ and create sample store Database by using your Template DB.
