Problem with 1.3 installation

after installing Store Operations ver1.3, I get an annoying error message that appears every now and then (when starting the Store Operations POS up, or somtimes after tendering a transaction).

The error message says

"The copy protection device that used to be on this machine is no longer there....Do you wish to continue?"

I don't know why I am getting this message because the dongle is still attached to my parralel port and was never moved around during the installation process.

Anyone know how I can get rid of this message?

I haven't used a parallel dongle for a while, but I don't remember them being auto detected.

You may need to go into the sentinel system driver config tool and reset some stuff.

Browse to C:\Program Files\Rainbow Technologies\Sentinel System Driver double click SetupSysDriver.exe Click Configure Driver. If you see a listing for port type = USB, edit it and make sure it is set to "Do Not Use" There should be another listing for the parallel port - I don't remember what it lists as and it doesn't appear on my system anymore - I think it was "EPP" - edit that port and make sure all 3 checkboxes at the bottom are unchecked. Click "OK" to get back to the driver set up screen Stop then start the parallel driver and try opening POS again...

I have had various problems upgrading to 1.3 Refresh. The problems usually go away by uninstalling and reinstalling. Might be worth a try...

P.S. I am sure you have heard the joke, but it's worth repeating.

4 Microsoft execs are in a new car designed by Microsoft and it breaks down on the side of the road. One guy checks the battery, but it looks fine. One checks the gas, but it looks fine. One checks the tires (this must be the accounting guy), but they look fine. Finally Bill Gates says, why don't we try closing all the windows and opening them back up? It works...
