Receive inventory - wireless solution?

Hi! I have a relative small operation, but being a one man show for most of the time it is hard for me to manually receive inventory. It is much easier if I were to scan it, but I receive most of the goods in the back room. Which is the most inexpensive way to do this. I have a wireless router, a D-Link, but can easy switch to Linksys if that is better. Using a Symbol handheld is way out of my budget. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Running RMS Operations 1.2 and going to upgrade to 1.3R as soon as the media arrives. Manny

Manny,

Dell has a $499 wireless laptop. Plug your scanner into it, install RMS on it and go for it!

Thanks, Jeff, but was looking more for a handheld device. The laptop does not work for me. Anyone got a Palm device or wireless Scanner to work. Preferably over 802.11 than bluetooth.

I am liking the $499 laptop idea now. The only one that I found is the Dell Inspiron B130, which has an Intel Celeron M Processor 370 (1.50 GHz/1MB Cache/400MHz FSB). RMS has a system requirenment of a pc with Intel® Pentium® lll 300 MHz or higher processor (Pentium 4 recommended). Is this enough since I will only be using Manager on it? I assume that I can only load Manager, never tried that...

To really do it right, you would want a proper handheld too. Figure $1000-1500 for a MC 50 with all the options

Because most laptops don't have keyboard ports any longer, only USB.

Jeff, actually Symbol sells a cable for $20. BTW, do you know if Symbols Cordless P470 would work with RMS? "Jeff" wrote in message news: snipped-for-privacy@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... Sometimes ;-)
