RMS and sql 2005

I have 3 stores that have never been set up to use the offline database function in RMS and 3 stores that use the offline database. The 3 that work with the offline database where done when they were put in the stores and we were using sql2000. The 3 stores that I am having problems with are all setup with version 1.3 and sql2005. 2 of the stores error upon upload and sync. I get error

Store Operation Business Rules

2147467259 SET NOCOUNT ON SELECT * FROM ItemTax

Store Operation Business Rules Then another message comes up SELECT GETDATE () AS CurrnetDateTime Then a dialog box Store operations pos Runtime error '5' Invalid Procedure call or arguments Then it dies.

The other store that I am having problems with errors out Register doesn't exsit in database.

Any suggestions I have followed the offilne database instructions to the letter. Carla Woodson

Are the problem registers running MSDE (as installed from the RMS CD) or SQL Server 2005 Express?

If Express, make sure you have used the Surface Area configuration tool to enable external connections.

For either Express or MSDE, make sure that no firewalls are blocking external connections to SQL Server on the register.

I think there was an optional component of SQL Express that you need to install to enable offline databases on SQL Express. Try the above and post back if you are still having issues...

one was orignally setup with msde and I have configured the surgace area config to enable external connections.

2 other stores were with Express. What is the extra componet that needs to be installed?

You may need to install the backward compatibility components - you can find them by searching the Microsoft site for SQL 2005 feature pack

You definitely need to Select "Enable OPENROWSET and OPENDATASOURCE support". You will find this in the Surface Area configuration for FEATURES, under "Ad Hoc Remote Queries".

Remember, you need to enable this at each register. The server uses this connection option to 'push' updates into the off line database.
