RMS deployment network config ?

If the RMS database resides in an offsite data center, how does this affect RMS?

Can the store operations administrator, manager, and POS computers each reside in different locations/networks, or is there some reason they have to be on the same LAN?

They should be on the same LAN because of speed. The POS stations poll the database server once per second to make sure the connection is still available. Running reports can also be slow.

The best thing to do is take a backup of the database and upload to your offsite location.

Admin has to be local to each workstation. It configures the local registry of each system with ther database location.

MS does not support WAN environments. There may also end up being licensing issues depending on your configuration. It's possible to get POS and Manager running with a remote database, but it would not be an ideal solution.
