wedge scanner MS POS

i have a customer that has a metrologic wedge keyboard scanner plugged into the same port as their msr, and of course, their keyboard.

the scanner functions properly when testing in notepad. it also functions in POS Manager.

the msr had an issue in POS, but after adding the MSR:Wedge Keyboard MSR device to the selected devices list, it then read information correctly into POS. before adding the MSR to the list, the scanner did scan numbers into POS, but does not any longer -- i'm not sure whether or not it's related to the MSR device.

i have tried adding Scanner:Wedge Keyboard Scanner to the selected devices list, and still have the same problem, even after removing the MSR device. the scanner still, however, populates numbers in notepad and POS Manager -- same barcode in POS does not display anything, as if the scanner doesn't even work. i even made sure the cursor was blinking in the correct position.

any idears?

They recommend a RS232 Serial interface scanner using OPOS for MS POS. mt

It is the way they are daisy chained. in pc first scanner then KBW then keyboard should work just fine I do it all the time.

I've tried using two daisy chained devices, and have mostly just had problems (especially using both a barcode scanner and an MSR.) It probably depends a lot of what model/brand of equipment you use, and how much power they try to draw from the PS2 port. You should consider switching either the barcode scanner or the MSR to a USB version.
