Metrologic OPOS and POS 2009

I am having some trouble using the Metrologic barcode scanner OPOS drivers with POS 2009. I have tried two different models (an MS9535 and an Orbit) neither has worked when configured for OPOS.

They work with keyboard emulation but not reliably. Sometimes the scan will be recognized by POS, but many times it will not. I am hoping the OPOS drivers will eliminate these issues.

I have used the following procedure to set up OPOS with these scanners:

  1. Install the latest MetrOPOS driver package.
  2. Scan the "OPOS Defaults" barcode from the configuration book.
  3. Install the device in Device Manager with the unidirectional serial drivers (per Metrologic support's recommendation).
  4. Set up the device within the MetrOPOS admin utility.
  5. Test the device within this utility
  6. Start MS POS 2009, which recognizes the new device under the name I gave it in the MetrOPOS admin tool
  7. Add the device to the register's list of hardware

The device passes the tests within the MetrOPOS utility successfully, but POS 2009 reports that there is a problem with that device and I am given the option of starting without it or closing the program.

I have contacted Metrologic support and since it works properly within their utility they have been unable to help me any further.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can try. Thanks,
