X and Z Report Problem

We are now have setup the entire system and ready to go live but after performing a test we found that the opening, closing and any activities done by the register are not shown in either the x report or the z report, why?

When you try to print either one of the reports, the print out showes as if no activity took place and the balance is always 0. After login in to the manager program, we find all the activities by creating a sale report so we know the system is tracking the activities but we still can't get the X and Z reports to show correctly.

Anyone has any idea of what is going wrong here?

Well, I never messed around with the XReport.xml but I did make some changes to the receipt.xml. Could that cause the problem?

If not then how do I reset the template?

I got as far as login in to the Manager > Database > Registers > Receipt Formats and here I can view all the different types of receipts and what formats they are using but I can't see how to reset the XReport.xml (that is what you are asking me to do right?).

When I looked at what receipt formats they are all set to, all of the types of receipts from sales to reports are set to Receipt - 40 Column except Quote and Work Order which are blank.

I have changed the Report to use ...XML 40-colX and Z Report and Blin

I have saved it, closed the Manager Program, Opened it and Opened the POS. I then entered a Openning Amount, created a transaction and tried to create a X Report. Still the X Report shows 0 and again I can still track all activity in the Manager Program but not through the X Report or Z Report.

Check your receipt format. The last transaction type, Reports, should be set to use XReport.xml as it's template. If this is already set correctly, I'd first try resetting it, as this is the most common way to get a strange looking X or Z Report...

To reset it, you click the red x next to it on the right. Then you click the magnifying glass to go to the same template. It will tell you once you accept the change that the change will occur when all register are restarted.

Just to clarify, do you mean I need to use the XReport format just on the Report or on all options from sales to reports?

I already tried to close the manager as well as the POS but with no luck. Actually that was something that I learned the hard way a few months ago that it sometimes needs to be done.

I will try to create a new receipt format now.

Make sure you close both manager and POS, then reopen POS. Your problem came from using a receipt format instead of the XReport format, and it should be fixed now - Not sure why it's not 'taking'. I had this happen to a customer, and between one phone call and the next, the template 'magically' corrected itself. I suspect they really closed everything and reopened, but I don't know for sure.

If closing & reopening doesn't correct it, try creating a new receipt format and switching the register to use the new one.

Ok so this is doesn't make any sense now.

I have Replaced the Receipt files with a copy of the Receipt files from another computer at another location I used for testing and I still get 0 for XReport or ZReport.

I then went ahead and installed the software in another machine and created a new database using the demo store that comes with Store Operations. After the installation I have connected to the database and loged in to the POS. I entered a opening amount, created a transaction and run a XReport. It still came up with 0. I then entered the closing amount and then run a XReport and ZReport which both came up with 0.

Now this is a new machine running the demo store operation. So the way I figure, its either that there is something really wrong with this POS system and no one ever noticed (impossible) or its some sort of setting that needs to be enabled or changed in the manager program.

Any Ideas???

Yes, I can see the transactions in the Journal but only the first receipt. So for example, if I open the register and enter the opening amounts, create a test sale 3 times, and then close the register, when I now go to the Journal, I see the details for the 1st receipt but I can't see the other 2. I do see on the side that what i'm looking at is receipt 1 out of 3 so I know its tracking but I'm not sure how to view the other two receipts.

This is all done on the demo store.

Crazy question: Can you find each one of these transactions in the journal, not on a report, but actually bringing up the journal and seeing each specific transaction?

Also if I I click on the Lookup button and pick a range of days then I see all the activities. So, when I picked today's date, I saw all the 3 receipts as well at all the other activities done that day.

Yes, when you use the page up or page down I can see all the receipts and all the X Reports, ZReports Blind Close outs and any other activities done by the register.

Still can't get the XReport or ZReport to output the numbers though. I'm go> Even if you use page up or page down you still can't see the receipt?

Even if you use page up or page down you still can't see the receipt? I was tracking to see if the actual transactions were getting journaled.

It still sounds as if the system is not picking up the receipt template. Checking on the report, I'm assuming it's setup as a 40 olum report and not as a standard report for the printer.

Yaniv,

Just a thought but check to make sure that you have 'Print receipt automatically after each transaction' checked in Store Ops Manager. Store Ops Manager--> Database Menu --> Registers --> Register List --> Property Screen --> Receipt Printer 1 or 2 tab.

Yes it is setup to print automatically on both printers. What I don't get is that even after installing it on a different machine and using the store demo, I still can't get the XReport and ZReport to print.

The Journal is recording all activities even though the X and Z Reports are showing 0.
