I've foolishly re-sorted my chart of accounts so now when I open the register in banking, it defaults to the wrong account. I would appreciate help in getting back to the proper account. Using the preference drop down in edit doesn't get me there. Help please.

This doesn't get it. Any other thoughts?
Move the bank account to the top of the accounts list.
If your Chart of Accounts is open, double-click the account you want.
When you select 'Open register' from the banking menu it opens the register that is highlighted (selected) on the page. If you re-sorted, your preferred account is no longer at the top.
Your options are to
--re-sort the list so that your preferred account is at the top, when you hit CTRL-R the preferred acct will open OR--click and drag the acct you want to the top OR--double-click to open the acct register, instead of CTRL-R
Is the accountant's copy outstanding #1. If so wait until it comes back in and then make your change. Or 2 if the accountant's copy isn't in use but QB just thinks so cancel it and make your change.
