Quickbooks Pro Ver5 for Windows

My Quickbooks Pro Ver5 for Windows is working on my Windows XP machine.

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction as to where I can download any/all updates for this old version of good software. I remember 1 major update shortly after it came out.

Thanks, Jim

Intuit had 5 more after that in 1998. Version 5 was patched to R6. Good luck in finding patches for that old piece of shit.

You can always try the wayback machine.

R7 was the last patch for venerable old QB 5.0 circa 1997/1998.

Have fun :)

As far as I know, the Basic and Simple Start versions use the same updater. For QB2005 that would be:

Thanks! I had no idea it had an R11. I thought I was all up to date. I did a little Googleing and found another file. Would you happen to know what the difference is between the one your mentioning and the one I found? Which one do you think I should bookmark (or save) for future use? The one I found is only 457Kb but the one you suggested is 61.5Mb

The first link in your list is for QuickBooks 5.0 (which came out around 1997) -- back before they used years as the named version.

You need to get the second one for QB 2005. And I would get it now and burn it to CD or something if you intend to keep using QB 2005.

Thanks Guys,

One more question. I see I missed the last 4 updates. Is there any documentation as to what these updates were for? QB Web site seems to only go back to QB-6 Thanks ____ _ | __\_\_o____/_|

... The question I'd ask is are Intuit updates cumulative?

Yes! I went ahead and ran the update and it seemed to install them all one at a time. It took 6 minutes to run it after downloading. When I updated my QB Pro 8, it only took 1 or 2 minutes.

When I restarted QB-5 it lost the License but all I had to do was enter my phone number and zip code and it updated the license. I had synchronized my license with Intuit before running the update. I never even new the Sync. feature was there before today. ____ _ | __\_\_o____/_|

That was nice of Ken to find those archived update pages.

John, you have QB 2005, right? The main QuickBooks site currently lists updates going back to QB 2006, not "QB-6". QB 5.0 and QB 6.0 preceded QB 99 and onward. As you mentioned in a previous post, QB 2005 is file version 15.0.

To find a list of update changes, look for the link on the download page under "Release Notes" or "What's New ... ". The release notes page will have sections of notes. Each note has the patch version at the end in parenthesis, such as (R7).

I don't think I've seen a regular update patch for QB that wasn't cumulative.

More corrections to my own posts...

The link from my prior post is to the full installer for QB Pro 5.0 which includes all updates to r7.

The links to the patch files to update an existing install is: Pro

R7! I must have upgraded before that patch was released.

Yes! I'm using QB 2005 not Ver 5 . Was 99 version 5? I've been using QB since ver 3 (on Window 3.1)

I could not find any "Release Notes" or "What's New ... " previous to 2006 but I see now the Qtools has a link to them on the web page you gave us in your other message.

Thanks!
