Quickbooks won't print

I recently purchased a new laptop that is running Vista Home Premium. I am using QB Pro 2008. I cannot print anything! If I click any print or print preview button absolutely nothing happens. I don't get any error messages, and nothing is sent to the print queue. I am able to print from all of my other programs (the ones I use regularly anyway) without issue.

Check for and install updates for both the hardware and OS. Look for any driver updates for the printer from the printer manufacturer directly as well as/instead of MS. Then same for QB.

We have a new installation of Quickbooks on a Windows Vista Home machine. We have seen something similar to this but with a partial page print instead of a complete print. It is very repeatable and seems to chop off the page in about the middle.

Does anyone know whqat might be causing this?

Thanks.

If you are having problems with printing/saving to pdf then close QB and delete the QB pdf Converter by going to Start>>Printers. It will recreate itself the next time you try and save a file to pdf.

One other thing. If I try to save the invoice as a pdf, I do get an error telling me that it cannot and indicates that if print preview does not work, I may have a printer problem. Not sure what the problem might be.

I deleted the PDF converter and it was recreated by QB but I was still unable to print. There are no updated drivers or patches from Epson for the printer and all MS updates have been installed. QB is also updated completely.

You might try deleting and reinstalling the printer. I know Vista and printers don't always get along nor did many of the printer manufacturers bother to create vista friendly drivers. I've had problems getting anything to print to my printer on our little LAN from my vista machine so anything is possible here. I don't have a problem printing to pdf using Adobe or CutePDF--I rarely use the Intuit pdf converter.

Are you certain that QB is configured to print to the printer in question or is it pointing to some other print destination?

It's broke... :(

Did you have the printer installed/connected to the machine when QB was installed? If not, might try it again w/ the printer attached--maybe there's some way QB configured itself to think there is no printer but still should see the selection menu, etc. No real clue/never even seen a Vista machine so no guesses there, sorry...

I'm not really sure what the problem was, but, I ended up uninstalling the printer, deleting a bunch of files/folders associated with the driver install and then allowing windows to find and install the driver, rather than using the cd supplied with the printer. All appears to be well now. Thanks for all the suggestions.
