Citibank Cost Visa Card - OSU

I still can't get OSU to work with this account. I think it's because it's set up to use EWC and it needs to be DC. I've been unable to change it to DC. I'v tried Deactivating and re-adding the account as

me to do, but that didn't work.

Can someone here tell me how to do it?

Sorry, typo. The subject should be Citibank Costco Visa Card - OSU

I have a vague memory that there are multiple Citi institutions shown in Quicken. To get DC to work, you need to select Citi Cards.

Sorry, I'm missing your point. Select it where? How?

When you enable online transactions in the Online Services tab of Account Details, you are asked to identify the financial institution the account is with. For Citi I see Citibank, Citi Cards, Citi Platinum Advantage, Citi Diamond Preferred and Costco Anywhere Visa by Citi.

My Costco Citi and Citi Rewards MC show Citi Cards as the financial institution.

OK, I deactvated the Costco Citi card and reactivated it, changing from Citibank to Citi Cards with some difficulty. It's now Direct Connect.

I then ran another OSU.

The result was very strange! It downloaded two transactions--both transactions that were already in the register because I had added them manually--but it also came up with a "Connectivity Problems" error: OL-304-A

I ran OSU once again, and got the same error.

Sorry - that I can't help you with.

If you'd like to lookup those (OL-nnn and CC-nnn) errors yourself, bookmark this URL:

In the Search box at that site, key the error number (the nnn) - the prefix is not required. Then press Enter or click "Search".

I went to that site and followed the "Deactivate and reactivate online services for the account" instructions there. It was a repeat of what I had done before. This is the same thing I had done just before I sent the message quoted above.

I then ran an OSU. Lo and behold, I got no error this time! Weird. Essentially nothing had changed, at least nothing that I was aware of.

I Just tried an OSU again. This time I got a 301 error.

An update: I think I understand, at least partly, what is going wrong.

The Account list shows one entry for Costco Visa Card.

The Account sidebar also shows one entry for Costco Visa Card.

But whenever I do an OSU, the dialog box shows *two* entries for it. One of them always has its box unchecked and always asks for the password. I left the box unchecked, didn't supply the password, clicked "Apply" and then Update Now." The OSU then ran without an error.

I then ran OSU again. This time the first thing that happened was that I got the message

"Accounts at Citi Card for Use ID XXXXXX are not enabled correctly and need to be deactivated and reactivated to allow Quicken to properly get new transactions."

and the OSU again completed without an error.

So I assume that extra entry is causing the problem. It's not a giant problem if the only thing that happens is that the extra entry doesn't get updated and the real entry does, but I'd still like to get rid of the extra entry. Any suggestions on how to do that? I can't do it from the Account list, because it's not shown there.

Could the account be hidden, and you have not told Quicken to "Show hidden accounts"?

Good thought, but I just checked and it's not a hidden account.

But then I ran another OSU. No error message this time. Has it gone away or will it come back again the next time I do an OSU? I wish I knew. Inconsistencies drive me crazy.

Do you have the "Financial Institution" column displayed in your Account List? Perhaps looking in that column will provide some insight.

Yes, I do, and that was one of the columns I looked at when I checked earlier.

I just ran another OSU. Again, no problems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the problem has mysteriously vanished on its own.

Again this morning, there were no OSU problems. I guess the problem is gone and I won't worry about this any longer.

I know, I know, a sentence like that last one means the problem is coming back. <G>
