How do I merge 2 accounts together in Quicken 2005?

Dec 09, 2005 3 Replies

Hey guys, I could use your help again.

I am running Quicken 2005 R5 and am trying to combine my 2 brokerage accounts into 1 account now that I've moved assets from Fidelity into Janus.

How do I do merge these 2 plain jane stock accounts in Quicken?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Ed

This has been addressed here probably more than 100 times. It has been addressed in the Intuit sponsered Quicken forums probably more than a dozen times. It is thoroughly covered in Quicken Help (transfer securities between accounts).

What part of what you have already read about the subject don't you understand?

I am posting here because I haven't found anything. I've done some searches on Google & Intuit's website for "Quicken 2005 merge accounts" and "Quicken 2005 combine accounts" but haven't found any instructions. I'm not an accountant - maybe I'm not using the correct jargon. Anyway, perhaps you can tell me where to find the information?

Thanks, Ed

Your "jargon" was find. I suppose I should have put "transfer securities between accounts" in quotes in my previous reply, since it is a quote of the name of a Q2005 Help subject. If you just start keying "transfer" in the Help Index, you will find a number of subjects listed below and "transfer securities between accounts" is one of them. There is no accounting knowledge required to understand it.
