Q2006 Bricking Question

So I understand that Quicken 2006 will stop downloading financial information online on April 30, 2009. But for all my financial institutions and credit cards I can log into their web sites and click on a link to download a Quicken file containing my monthly statements or financial history. As soon as the download starts, Quicken opens and imports the data. Am I correct in assuming that this functionality will continue past April 30 and that this is a workaround for anyone who doesn't upgrade their Q2006?

Thanks,

CD

Thanks. I'm having a hard time figuring how Intuit can control this. Do they push an update to Quicken that tells it to stop working online? Or maybe embed a signal in the web connect file that tells Quicken to quit importing? Or maybe change the file format each year? I'm not actually asking you to answer this, just that I'd be interested in knowing how this works.

After seeing the QFX file downloaded, Quicken contacts a server to verify the bank info and, presumably, your Quicken version. That is one reason for some of those 201 or whatever errors.

There may also be version codes in the QFX file itself.
