Chip 'n' Pin - and Signature ??!!!

Sorry if I missed this amongst the recent C+P threads - but have recently been asked (at several outlets in mainland Europe) for Pin Number AND a signature. Anyone encountered this, or can offer an explanation?


Had the same in Spain - checked with Barclaycard they hadn't charged me twice (they had not) and Barclaycard could offer no explanation as to why I was asked to sign.

Any or all are valid and will depend on

a) What the card supports b) what the terminal supports

The card and terminal compare lists to determine which are the mutually supported CVMs. This list is compared with the authorisation rules.
