I received a phone call regarding "an online banking transaction I had just made" - I hadn't made one. The pre-recorded message asked me if I was expecting one: 1 for yes and 9 for no. I pressed 9. The message went on to say that they were concerned my online banking had been compromised and they were stopping my access and somebody would phone within 3 hours. I phoned telephone banking and they checked with online banking and fraud who both denied any knowledge of a problem. I checked my online banking and there was no problem. Telephone banking said they would send a message to my bank manager. I am sceptical that he will know anything about this. I suggested I should phone the police so they could investigate - this caused an excitable response saying that I hadn't lost any money. I explained that I knew that but there appears a crime could have been committed.
Does anybody know of scams or is it simply that Lloyds TSB don't know what they are doing?
