Database Not Found Error Message

Hello, I've installed RMS on Server 2003 running MYSQL. I have another machine running XPPro and want to use that one as the POS front end computer with the HP server as the database/file server.

I've installed RMS on both machines although the machines are networked and can see each other when I attempt to launch POS on XP Pro machine, it tells me could not connect to the database.

I've made sure the SQL server client utility has the same enabled protocols of TCP/IP and Named Pipes. This is the same config on the 2003 Server.

I can launch the Store Operations Administrator on both machiens and connect both to the database server and database. When I launch POS from the Server2003 machine, it appears that it will work becasue it prompts me for ID Key. However I don't want to use the server at the front end POS...i have another machine for that.

I cannot launch Store Operations Manager or Store POS from this front end (XP PRO) machine however, it continues to tell me Database Error: it cannot find the database.

Any suggestions on what to try? Thank you! Shannon

hi,

you said connection to both side is working seems okay to me. but go to SO Administrator program click on File Menu then click on configuration, under database on the POS (front machine) what is ??? it should be server name=windows 2003 machine name, then user id and password of sa or any user who has owner permission to RMS database. the database name and there you can test the connectivity. I belive you have miss this
