Dongle Not Recognized by 2nd Register

May 01, 2006 7 Replies

We have a 2 lane RMS SO dongle and we have two registers and one PC with the database acting as a server. The two registers are connected to the database on the server but the dongle is not being recognized by two registers. It is only recognized by the register where it is installed not the other. Is there a special setup for the dongles in a 2 lane setup?

Thx for your assistance.

I know that the first register to be opened every morning should be the one that contains the dongle. Otherwise you will get evaluation mode for the other lane.

Not neccessarily but it should. You need to double check that you have created a second Register in SO Manager --> Register menu --> Register List and that you have assigned your second Register as register # 2 in SO Admin --> File menu --> Configuration --> Register tab --> Number field.

Thx Rob for your response. I do have set the register numbers respectively for the two POS lanes. What should be the register number for the backoffice PC, if any? If I put the dongle on one of the POS registers I get evaluation mode on the backoffice now. Plz clarify, thx.

also, is there a specical configuration if I want the dongle to be on the backoffice PC?

Thx.

You can create a new Register for the back office computer and call it BackOffice and give it a Register number of 3. About your evaluation message I would double check that all your Database settings for all three machines are pointing to the BackOffice machine. If you decide to put the dongle on the BackOffice computer you will need to open the POS first thing in the morning on the BackOffice then shut it down so that you can open the POS on your registers. Just like what Elizabeth said. If you still get an error when trying to open more than 2 POS's at the same time I would double check the Help menu --> About and make sure that for License it says 2.

It doesn't but what it will do is only allow you to open 2 POS screens at on time.
