Encore Payment Systems

Is anyone using Encore Payment Systems for their credit/debit card processor? They are a member of the VITAL network, so from the posts here, they should be compatible with both debit and credit processing, correct?

If you have or do use them, what experience could you share?

Thanks,

I have always been able to get credit card processing going with a VITAL processor, but they are not always able to do pin based debit. You need to contact the processor and ask them if they will encode a pin pad for you and process those transactions.

They will encode the pinpad and claim to process those transactions. However, after 20+ years in business, what the salesman says, and what the company does are sometimes two different things.

Everything on this site indicates that a person won't have any trouble with the credit card processing as long as it is through VITAL, but its a big maybe on the debit card side. Is the only consideration as to whether it will work, whether they will encode the pinad?

I have not been able to get pin based debit working with any VITAL processors except the preferred processors through Microsoft. You are right; it is a big maybe.

If you really need to do Pin based debit and want to stay with Encore, then look into using the TPISoft

add-on. They don't support vital but Encore may be able to switch you over to another platform that is supported by tpisoft.

This is really something that your RMS reseller should be helping you with.

Thanks very much Greg,

I'm not with Encore right now, but they have offered me attractive rates and do use VITAL. I'm not planning to switch though unless I KNOW debit will work.
