Epson TM88III Connection

Can someone please help with the installation of my Epson Receip printer. I purchased the Dell POS Bundle and am usually very technical in nature but I cannot figure out why my printer is not connecting via USB. I would really appreciate any help someone could provide.

I've been through the threads and haven't quite seen the right answer for my issue. I'm definitely new to the POS, OPOS device game but need to get my POS and RMS system setup.

Thanks,

D, I have the instructions somewhere. It took me quite awhile to figure it out since Epson's information is crazy. Basically, you have to sign up at

and download the OPOS ADK 2.40 E SP1. If I find my notes, i'll post them for you. Derek

Derek - Please let me know what you can find. So far all I've been able to setup is the Pole Display. The Epson printer is driving me crazy and I haven't even gotten tot the Zebra LP 2824 setup yet or scanner....any advice here? I guess I wasn't aware of the learning curve involving OPOS vs. Windows setups and my initial opinion is RMS and the manufacturers aren't that helpful.

Thanks aga> D, I have the instructions somewhere. It took me quite awhile to figure it

My reseller connected to my PC and set this up for me in about 15 minutes including pole display, scanner, and receipt printer. I'm not sure what was done exactly even though I was watching. It looked like a number of steps are required but it didn't take very long.

Epson TM-T88III Receipt printer ? Do not run the Add Device Wizard ? Download the Epson OPOS drivers from the Epson Expert website. ? Install the Epson OPOS ADK from the OPOS driver. The setup.exe is in the C:\EPSONOPOS\OPOSADK\V240e\Original\disk1 folder. (assuming you unzipped it in C:\EPSONOPOS\). Make sure you select Common Control Objects. ? When prompted, install the TMUSB driver. Add a POS printer. The device name is TM-T88III, the model is TM-T88IIIU (for USB), and LDN is TM-T88III. Specify the USB1 port, and run a health check to test the printer. ? When setting up Receipt Printer for the register in Store Operations Manager, the OPOS name is TM-T88III.

I've had a lot of problems with the USB models. We only used them a couple times, then went back to parallel.

Check if you have both the Windows and OPOS drivers installed for the printers. If both are installed, take out the Windows ones.

What happens when you try and add the printer in the OPOS Setup? Does the OPOS Test complete sucessfully?

OPOS is on EpsonExpert as well, under Application Development, then OLE POS. Download the OPOS ADK v2.40E SP1

D, Bill Yater has the right instructions. You use the Epson software to setup the cash drawer as well. As far as the scanner goes, if you are using a PS2 Keyboard wedge, you don't have to do anything save program it to hit the return key after a scan. I was caught off guard a little like you when it comes to OPOS drivers, but I learned a lot from the experience, and you will too. The barcode printer shouldn't give you to much headache, but the label designer in RMS might! It sucks, but you will make do. I've heard Zebra is a good brand from folks on here. You will love the TM88III once it's installed. It is an super-fast printer.

Bill,

Thank you for the detail. I am having a problem with the part where you select 'USB1' after which you run the health check. The drop-down menu will not populate any options. In device manager the 'Epson USB Controller for TM/BA/EU' is showing up under 'Other devices.' Would this affect the software's ability to find the 'USB1' port?

Thank you.
