gift cards processeing

Hi, Did I understand correctly, If we only have one location, RMS can handle all the gift card processing. I do not need a outside service keeping track of balances or transactions?

Well, a voucher is closer to a "gift certificate" than a "gift card" most likely. trying to integrate a mag stripe card with the voucher system will be a nightmare - you could use cards with barcodes printed on them though.

There are some things you need to be aware of when using vouchers - like making sure you don't 'double book' revenue by counting both the sale of the voucher and it's redemption as payment for an item as sales. You should consult with your reseller or search back in this newsgroup - vouchers are discussed pretty frequently...

Melcort,

we are running all of our gift cards in house. we use to use an outside sorce. It was a waste of time and money. We contact a company called profit Point.

they printed the cards for us, with barcodes. As for as the post about "double book" of revenue, just make sure you talk to your accountant when entering the sales into your books.

My advice do this inhouse, save yourself the money, don't use a third party or an add-on that someone is trying to sell you.

We also use the built-in voucher feature and we get our cards from profit point also. Works really well, and if you automatically post to quickbooks you only have to worry about setting the accounting side up once. Craig
