items not in DB

Is there a way to make the barcode scanner make a different sound when the item is not in my DB. If the item is not located the system still scans and reads the barcode making the same scanning sound. I have asked this ? before and never really got an answer.

Thanks

Any sound that the scanner emits is a function of the scanner and has nothing to do with Microsoft Store Operations.

Zoo,

You can't change the scanner sound, that sound indicates it was just a good read of the barcode.

You can change the default error sound in Windows, which sounds in RMS on not found. Control panel | Sounds & Audio | Default Beep | change it to something else, to sample the sound, click the > button.

Then maybe offer a suggestion to MS about adding their own group of sounds specific to RMS/MSPOS like other program do!!

Jeff, Is there any way I can have RMS prompt for further input if I get a clean scan on something that is not in the DB. In other words, if it reads the barcode but does not place a description or price in the associated fields, can we make RMS ask for additional info. This will at least flag the item that has not been entered and cut down on shrink.

Thanks aga> Zoo,

Zoo,

You can have POS popup a lookup screen or an action message to escape from if it doesn't find the item scanned or both.

Manager | File | Configurations | Options tab | Item options | check Look up unknown items and/or Display unknown items screen

Zoo,

I could tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya ;-) I would still make either or both of the pop-up changes.
