How am I able to take a backup of the database and restore it at home whenI do not have the dongle at the store? I like to review daily sales information at home. For a while I was able to acheive this but now I am no longer able. Why aren'yt I able to use the Store Operations Manager to access past sales information?

You should try something like gotomypc, then you can work on the actual database from home. or on vacation. add items and customers, run reports etc without having to take a backup home--

The best remote access software I have found is UltraVNC

It is very secure and flexible. I used to use pcAnywhere but actually like UltraVNC better and it's even free.
You can also connect to your StoreOps database remotely but doing so means opening a the sql server port in your firewall. You can use a software firewall to only allow access to that port from the specified ip address of the remote computer. That's relatively secure but not everyone would be comfortable with that.
