Star 200 Receipt printer

Dec 27, 2005 2 Replies

We have a client with a STAR 200 receipt printer. We have installed the OPOS drivers from STAR and it prints fine from the check health on the driver and from Store Operations Manager. When they try and print a receipt from Store Operations POS it gives an unknown error and does not print. Any ideas on what to do? In the OPOS setup we have configured it to use the follow type SP242FD because Star 200 does not show up.

Bart,

Have you tried the Windows driver instead? OPOS is sometimes funky.

You need to pick the correct printer, the 242 is the auto-cutter model. You may have the tear bar version, the 212.

Before you spend a lot of time with printer, better make sure your customer can be happy with the _slow_ printing. A much better choice is a thermal, TSP 600 or the TSP 100 series. Both of them are ~10 times faster, printout looks better, and very quiet.

My store uses the Star 200 receipt printer. We have it installed through the OPOS driver.

For longer receipts it takes a little more time to print. I would advise having a short header and or footer on the receipt. It takes less time to print that way.
