Store Operations POS Freezes During a Transaction

When scanning an item, the Store Operations POS freezes. The item number and price pops up, but no item description. It only freezes the POS program, I can navigate the rest of the computer just fine. If I do an End Task on POS, I cannot restart the program unless I reboot the machine. Then it will work for usually 1 or maybe 2 transactions, then it will freeze again in the middle of one. Just started happening today, have had no problems like this in the past. I did notice the times on the client PC and the server PC were different, so I synched them and still no luck. Any ideas?!?

What kind of scanner do you have? And is it connected with OPOS or keyboard emulation?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you manually key the ILC into the transaction grid, and/or do a Lookup? Does it freeze then, or only if you scan?

If it only freezes when you scan, try opening Notepad or Word and scanning a barcode in there and see if it still freezes.

My experience is that OPOS drivers can cause this, especially if there is a conflicting Windows driver for the same printer. Wouldn't be surprised about a scanner, either/

I rencently abandoned the Star SP200 OPOS driver in favor of using the Windows printer. Had too many lockups and delays. Now everything works great.
