problem moving one-time tax table solved

It always stuck in my craw that after paying for the program ya have to plunk down another two hundred for a simple tax table.

(I used to use "Ready-To-Run" - for 1-2-3). Tax table updates were something like fifteen dollars a year. When they folded and no longer issued tax tables, I just opened the spreadsheet and made the changes as per Schedule E.)

It makes a good incentive to upgrade more frequently. They seem to try to keep it secret.

I posted a few days ago about a big problem I had when I moved my business to a new computer. I could not get my one-time tax table download from my old computer to my new, and Intuit would not allow me to do another download. I saw on this newsgroup that Mike Block was guest expert on QuickBooks Community to answer questions, so I signed up and posted my problem. Mike replied that I should email a Brad Smith, a Senior VP of QB division. Brad quickly replied and had someone call me to help me with a fix. Sally called me and was able to open the pipes for another tax table download. My faith has returned. (Thank you Mike.) I only hope that enough people will continue to use the free one-time tax table download as a payroll solution and that Intuit will continue to offer it in the future. In fact, I would like to see Intuit promote it more instead of trying to hide it because I believe there are many who can benefit from it.

Another solution, which I used couple times, it is before move to another computer, open your company file on the old computer, go to payroll subscription and write down your subscription number. Since this is one time download, you probably will see that this subscription is expired, but this is OK, we know it. After reinstalling QB on the new computer, just go to payroll and enter saved subscription number back. After that you will able to use tables again to calculate taxes. It works for me.

Great googly moogly, even Intuit ain't that bad. Out of their incredible generosity, the $199.00 tax table may be used on multiple EINs.
