Update missing one step

QB update should include one more step. At the end of the installation it should ask, "Do you want to keep the garbage that the update just cluttered onto your desktop such as an icon for our partners' software, an icon for ordering checks, etc?" Intuit just doesn't get it with their heavy handed advertising. Maybe they should ask the user what they prefer instead of making the user think bad thoughts about them.

Are you having bad thoughts?

You are the one who doesn't get it. QB would cost thousands more if it wasn't cluttering up your screens with advertising. Just like a TV commercial!

What Madison Ave. doesn't understand is the consumer no longer looks at ads because they have become so ubiquitous they have lost all power. If they would all cut back 50% at once they all would get better rates of return! It is a prisoner's dilemma game and they are all loosing!

OK, I've calmed down and I'll live with it. Overall QB is so much better than the Mickeysoft Money thing I used for three years. I guess I can stand the extra work of removing a few icons.

You now have an install and internal Preference that can stop the clutter and the ads.

I downloaded the update and clicked on install and no choices were ever presented to me for changing anything. A Preference screen never displayed during that time. Perhaps during the original installation there may be choices but I don't think there is one for the update.
