Can't print a single check

For five years we have been using Quicken 2001 Deluxe with our Canon i850 printer and had no problem printing single checks on the right side of the printer. We recently bought the 2006 Basic program and it only wants to print single checks on the left side of the printer, which the printer does not accommodate. We have searched the menus and can not find a setting to correct the problem but are hopeful that we've overlooked something. We asked the question of Quicken on their website a couple of weeks ago but nobody had the courtesy to respond.

Can this version of Quicken be set to print within the physical guides on the right side of the printer or do we have to buy another brand of software ?

I don't have the answer to your question. But if it turns out you can't print that way, at least you should have the option of printing a single check "portrait" style (as opposed to the "landscape" style that I think you're using). I know because I've done that in Q06 Basic. That would save you the hassle of switching to Money, which I would guess is really your only choice here.

I'm sorry you were not able to find help, but if you are referring to the Quicken Forums when you say "nobody had the courtesy to respond", I can assure you that the lack of response had nothing to do with any lack of courtesy: it was a simple matter of no one having anything helpful to say. (And, although you have now gotten at least two reponses here, any lack of response in this group would have meant the same thing: lack of helpful knowledge of your problem).

I think I've heard something about "page guides" before - essentially you tape the check to a full A4 size page to feet it through.

I haven't been back to the Quicken website but it seems to me there was a "Contact us" link or a "Technical support" link where I asked the question and where I was required to include my contact information. I had scanned the forum but found nothing useful there. I thought it would be more productive to contact someone at the company who would know than to ask others who themselves were having problems with the program.

It seems strange that the 2001 version handled single checks properly and the 2006 version won't. When you buy a new version of a program you expect it to be an improvement over the old one, which apparently is not the case here.

In the 7 years we've been using Quicken I haven't found much friendly about any of it. It's probably time to make a change.
