Q05 trying to update from disabled account

I have a bank account that works with Quicken BillPay. Sometime ago I tried enabling transaction updates but found out that was going to cost me $4 per month. So I disabled it.

The problem is that a One-step Updated is still referencing the account and gripes about the name&password being bad, OL-393-A. This account does not appear in the update list. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Make sure it is removed from the PIN vault.

Do you mean the One Step Update Financial Institutions list?

Try Activating the account again, going into One Step Update and unchecking the account, then deactivating it again.

If that does not work, try renaming QDATA.QEL and letting Quicken recreate it. You will probably have to re-enter all your online account information, and reactivate your accounts.

It was removed months ago. Thanks for the suggestion.

No. One Step Update walks through my list of institutions but the offending bank is no longer on that list. Nor is it in the PIN Vault. After the update the status page shows the error.

I've gotten in big trouble doing that in the past. So, I'm hoping for some magic solution.

That's like burning down the house to get rid of cockroachs. But if that's what it takes, I'll do it during the week when I can get in touch with Intuit.

You said the "account does not appear in the update list". I asked you to confirm which list you were referring to. You then denied you were referring to the "One Step Update Financial Institutions list" which is the list that appears when you initiate a One Step Update. So what list were you referring to?

I don't do magic.

I have not heard of any big troubles from doing this (actually, I can't even remember hearing of any little troubles doing this), but even if such were possible, it is a trivial matter to insure yourself against *any* trouble. Make a backup before you try it and if you experience problems, revert to the backup.

Feeling a bit hyperbolic today are we? (And after rejecting the simpler approach at that).

If it's NOT listed on One-Step Update, AND it's NOT listed in the Pin Vault, deleting the .QEL is your last/best/only option.

WTH else do you think the info might be stored???
