Q2005 not downloading all transactions

I'm having a problem with Quicken 2005 and online banking.

Are there any known issues where Q2005 would download some transactions, but not others?

I recently started downloading transactions from my bank's website. Today, I noticed there were 4 checks missing from the download; all electronic transactions (ATM, etc.) showed up just fine.

To download transactions, I go to my bank's website, set a date range, and download the file for "Quicken 2004 or Newer." I think this is an OFX file, which Quicken immediately intercepts (in otherwords, I don't have to manually import it like in past versions). Just to make sure the problem wasn't with the bank, I downloaded a csv file, and the missing checks showed up in the spreadsheet.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I checked on Intuit's support site but didn't see anything helpful.

Thanks, Joseph

Yes, but cause unknown and no known fix/workaround. I also can't say it is limited to Q2005, but I am using Q2005 and I have occasionally seen the problem .... very infrequently.

It's a QFX file, but you're close enough.

You can also save that file to your hard drive; you might want to do that in the future. The data in the file is readable - though it may be a bit of work, depending on how familiar you are with the formatting techniques used by OFX (the standard by which QFX files are formatted).

You may need to edit your Quicken Web Connect Preferences to tell Quicken to offer you the option of saving the file when you do a Web Connect download.

This is not really a valid cross check; the processes for creating the two file types are different. But if you save that QFX file, you will be able to determine if the "missing" transactions were actually sent by the bank or not. At least one other person has said that there were transactions in the QFX file (from BofA, by the way; though I have had the problem with BofA and another fi), that did not appear in the "Accept transactions into register" window.

It's important to observe the "Accept transations ..." window carefully; sometimes transactions *are* downloaded but incorrectly "Match"ed to existing register transactions, and the user does not notice the incorrect match and accepts the transactions (often doing an "Accept All"). Then it may appear the transactions were not downloaded when they were.

John,

Thanks for your suggestions. I took your advice and opened the QFX file, and I think I figured it out. If I delete a previously downloaded transaction from my register, and then import a QFX file, Quicken will not import the missing transaction.

How frustrating. Even though it should be rare (I don't often delete transactions), it's still a little unnerving. I guess it just goes to show how important it is to still reconcile to a paper statement.

Thanks again. Joseph
