Q2007 vs. Vista

I installed Q2007 on Vista and the install went smoothly; however Q2007 crashes when you try to open a file. Has anyone had any luck with this? The Intuit web site says Quicken is "untested" and may or may not work (at this time.) Hopefully they'll get it working by January; otherwise there will be many unhappy campers!

Same problem here, don't try to browse for the file. Instead locate the file using Windows Explorer, then double click it to open with Quicken. Works like a charm here.

It is kind of stupid, ain't it??

I'm a bit dubious about there being "many unhappy campers"....

Well I'm an unhappy camper. In addition to the start-up problem discussed in Bill's post & the solution provided by Michael, there are other problems with Vista & Quicken -- at least Quicken 2005 Deluxe. Quicken crashes on closing when changes have been made that require registry or initialization file writes rather than just data file writes. Quicken is among those programs which don't seem to take kindly to Vista's registry virtualization -- and neither Intuit nor Microsoft seem to be doing anything about it. The result is that Quicken 2005, at least, is barely usable under Vista -- and of course it's especially worrisome when one's financial records may be at risk. (Not mine -- I'm running in parallel with my XP laptop, but that's a pain, too).

Good wishes to all.

Q2007 also crashes on XP. There many bugs in Q2007. It was pushed out the door before its time. Intuit will not own up to any problems.

I haven't had any recurring crashes in Q2007 under XP. I have encountered scattered bugs however.

FWIW, I haven't experienced that. I'm running XP Pro SP2 and Windows MCE Rollup 2.

Using Q07P on XP Pro fully patched and I do at least 2 One Step Updates every week and never see a crash. I experienced only 1 crash with Q07 and it was on the same day I installed. After that, no problems at all.
