Connect to Database: Error #430 - Class does not support Automatio

May 04, 2007 3 Replies

Hi,

I have hit a wall on a new installation and I wondered if anyone out there has a fix for this? There are no OPOS drivers on the computer and it has the latest MDAC. We have installed and uninstalled RMS 2.0 and SQL 2005 Express multiple times. Using an ODBC we can connect to the database. Using SQL tools we can connect to the database. The only problem is RMS. In Administrator you get this error using File > Connect or on the Configuration tab when you test the configuration. Needless to say - Manager does not open. The full error is below:

Connect to Database: Error #430 - Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface (Source: QSAdministrator)

TIA for any help - I really don't want to burn another MS incident if I can help it.

Jeff,

That is the KB about the OPOS drivers - we don't have any installed on this computer since it is a back office computer and not a register. They want to enter PO's on it. Do you think we should load the OPOS drivers on it? Just a note: Windows Firewall is turned off and if you turn off Norton's security suite the problem still exists.

Any other ideas?

Thanks, Laura

Laura,

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Select RMS and click on the option underneath - "Click here for support" and you will see a little repair button. Run the repair - CD required!

This will solve your problem
