printer driver/cash drawer problem

After over a year working correctly we are experiencing problems our cash drawer stopped popping. If we rebooted the system it would start working again. Now it wont work at all. We have and Epson TM-T88iii on a serial connection. I have reconfigured the OPOS devices in ver2.4. Now if I setup both devices in the manager's register configuration area when we start the pos it says it has detected an error in the printers driver. If I disable the cash drawer the printer works fine. I have reintalled the OPOS program and it still is the same. Any ideas?
