Problems running credit cards when using a router

We have recently set up POS and our EDC info. We use a cable modem for our broadband connection. Credit card processing when the POS computer is connected directly to the modem. When connected through our router, it can't connect to Vital. Is there a specific port that needs to be open? I can't find a list of ports. I've tried adding the IP for the POS machine to DMZ, but even that does not work. (another oddity is that our router gets a completely different IP address on the WAN then the POS machine does when connected to the modem)

We are using Microsoft POS and authorizing credit cards over the LAN via a router. The router should have a default IP address you'll use to configure it (e.g. 192.168.1.1). Your cable modem will be assigned an IP address by your ISP (e.g. Comcast).

All IP addresses on your LAN will be spoofed addresses (e.g. 192.168.x.x). If your POS machine has an IP address other than a spoofed address, you may not have your router configured to assign a working address to your POS machine (i.e., MAC filtering, WEP, etc.).

Question: Have you configured the EDC with your SSL gateway URLs for credit and debit transactions?

For our Debit Gateway port, we designated port 5003.
