QB PRO 2005- FRAGMENTED FILES

Does anyone else have a problem with the various QB files being the ones that cannot be defragmented? after diskeeper is finished it shows the files that cannot be defragged and the caution that if they are the files that are frequently used this will affect the efficiency fo the computer. Well, that and the internet are the major uses. Any suggestions??

Close QuickBooks and make sure no one is logged into the data file. CTRL - ALT - DELETE - Open up the task manager - Open up processes - close QBW32.EXE (if it's still there) and QBUPDATE.EXE (if it's there) and possibly AXLBRIDGE.

Do you have any 3rd party programs that access the QuickBooks data file? If so, close them down as well. Now try defragging the hard drive. Does that work?

Move the data file to another drive or computer. Make sure your backup is current. [Always have two copies before this step!] Delete the file from the original drive. Defrag the original drive. Move the data file back to the original drive. Defrag again if you wish but you shouldn't need to.
