IE7 Beta Breaks Quicken 2005 Help

This problem has been reported in a couple other places: When MSIE7 is installed, users get a message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when they attempt to display any help topic.

Does anyone in this group know of a fix or workaround (other than reverting to IE6)?

Thanks!

No.

There was at least one person in the IE7 beta newsgroup that said they could use Quicken Help with IE7, but I don't recall them saying what the magic incantation was to accomplish that (not sure they even knew the incantation).

I have Firefox and IE7 on this machine with Firefox the default. That allows Quicken Help and I to get along ok.

I just noticed an update on the Microsoft site #KB904942 that mentions "Install this update to resolve HTTP authentication issues in Windows-based systems that do not appear until Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 is installed."

Maybe it will help, it is under Optional Software updates for WinXP.

One poster on the Intuit's Quicken Forums claimed that setting the options to enable Javascript and/or to run active content from the disk was the solution.

Nope, the update did not help. I just downloaded IE7 and the help page is blocked. I don't know why, but the new security features look at addresses more than IE6 did so I am leaning toward a problem with the way Quicken handles that function since the page is not a normal IE window.

They have utilities to check your website on the Microsoft site, so if Intuit wanted to check their sites, they could. I will keep exploring to see if I can find a setting that lets it work.

Actually, SeaMonkey IS my default browser - but for some reason Quicken still tries to go to IE, with the resulting IE error. I figured that some at Intuit had hard-coded Q2005 to use IE.

Ya know what? I tried it tonight and it's broke just like others with IE7. No surprise I just thought I had used Q help after IE7 but I guess not....

Sorry for the confusion.

Quicken has made IE a requirement for several years...

Looks like the issue has been fixed with the "refreshed" version of IE7 released yesterday.
