Check the prices in Europe - Macs' go though the roof.

(No, UK does not qualify as "Europe").

More bullshit.

A quick look at the Apple .fr store reveals that the MacBook is 1099 Euros, or, roughly £750.

At the UK store, it's £749.

What were you saying again?

We'd be right, though.

Apple hardware can't be compared with cheap generic hardware, just as OSX can't be compared with the basic version of Vista.

Apple hardware is pitched to compete with IBM / HP / Compaq etc., and OSX is equivalent to Windows Vista Premium.

That you guys don't qualify as Europeans.

For your information, the internet was started by the Americans as a means of interaction between universities and state departments, this was extended to similar institutions in other parts of the world, I started to use it sometime in the late 60s early 70s, my estimate of 35 years for OE was, perhaps, a little bit over the top, but it has been around for a very long time, with no problems.

The only problem I have with it is not to be able to stop crossposted articles which can be a real nuisance.

Make credence recognised that on Sun, 22 Apr 2007 21:17:09 +0100, snipped-for-privacy@italiancar.co.uk (SteveH) has scripted:

Gawd, here we go again with a bunch of passionate Mac defending diatribe with a few ousting clauses like '"quality computer hardware" and "same functionality".

Erm, what has that got to do with the price of Mac hardware?

You said it was expensive in mainland Europe, I proved it was the same price as in the UK.

Care to come up with some evidence of these expensive Macs?

You only saw one price - check better, in several shops, in several countries. Macs are always more expensive in the end.

If so and I'm not agreeing that this is the case, then the aggro free operation makes it worth while. I can't remember when this Mac last crashed (if it ever did) Windoze was regular, several time a day on occasions.

OK, I've just checked the German and Dutch stores - 1099 euros in Holland, 1119 euros in Germany (a few quid more due to VAT), in fact all European countries in the 'Euro Zone' are within 20 or 30 euros of each other. Variances are due to local taxes.

I've only checked the Apple Store because Apple margins are so low that all retailers, almost without exception, sell at the same price as the Apple Store.

Care to find evidence to disprove this?

Between 749 pounds and 1119 Euros there is *a little more* than 20-30 Euros difference... Just a smidge!

No time to waste with Mac users. Good for you guys if you have so much money to waste.

Is it?

It's actually £10 - 1119 euros is £759 in sterling. The £10 difference is due to different local taxation rates.

You seem a bit dim, so I wouldn't expect you to understand this given that you can't do a euro to pound conversion.

Thanks for proving that most Windows users are very stupid. £749 / £759 isn't a lot of money for a decently specced and build Core 2 Duo notebook.

And here we go again with PC weenies trying to claim that a

512MB/1.2GHz/40GB 14" LCD AMD Turion laptop with cheap plastic case and a crippled version of an OS is comparable with a Dual Core 2GB/2.33GHz/160GB 17" laptop or with an 8-core Xeon 16GB/3.0GHz/3TB Desktop running a variant of UN*X.

I live in Italy,. I paid the same price for a Mac in Italy that I did in the UK. All the software releases cost the same price that they do in the UK.

PC hardware OTOH does cost more in Italy than it does in the UK.

More s**te.

Anyway, what do the French know about Europe, other than getting their hand out for the next dollop of subsidy?

Oh, I'm totally incapable of operating a Mac. I leave it to those whose IQ is inferior to

50.

Well done, you've avoided the issue again.

Care to name all these countries and shops within mainland Europe where Macs are significantly more expensive than they are in the UK?

Oh, you can't.....

In France it does not.

No idea - I'm not French, Einstein.
