Bar code on receipt solid black

Jan 16, 2007 6 Replies

Hi I am new and trying to learn this system and don't want to ask the post unless I must but I can't seem to get the bar code to print on the receipt!? It simply just prints a black box. Seems simple! What am I missing? Thanks for your time in advance!!

FYI- Epson TM-U220 Printer using Windows driver and I have checked all settings in RMS 1.2 SP3.

Thanks again,

Billy @ ThinkPOS

Epson receipt printers are much more functional (including the barcode) if you use the OPOS driver instead of the Windows driver. I have never used the Windows driver for these printers, so I'm not much more help after that. I definitely recommend the OPOS driver instead ...

I'm not sure that the U220 is able to print graphics. I've never set that printer up using Windows, but if you are just getting a bleck box, it's probably because the resolution isn't good enough to render the bars and spaces. Try setting the transaction number to something like

10001 (SO Administrator) - small numbers generate very blocky, unreadable codes anyway...

Hi Glenn,

It is able to print the receipt logo if I choose with no problem so I assume it can print a barcode but resolution could always be an issue. Thanks for the info and I will keep at it and also try the OPOS drivers. What receipt printers do you prefer!? I am going to buy another and should probrably get a thermal printer right?? Any advise would be greatly appreciated of course.

Thanks,

I love Epson, but I prefer the EPS-T88III, never had a single problem with it, works fantastic with RMS on an OPOS driver that can be found easily with Epson.

We've standardized on the Epson TM-T88IV, USB, using OPOS drivers. I've configured a few Star printers with OPOS and I have to say their drivers are MUCH simpler to set up than Epson's. I'm still not really interested in switching as I'd rather keep as consistent a configuration as possible.
