Missing Mastercard Transactions

OK guys and gals, I REALLY REALLY messed up and I'm hoping someone can pull my butt out of a very hot fire. I switched off the EDC verification checkmark on my MC tender type because I was anticipating using an outside terminal. Unfortunately, it never got switched back on. Does RMS keep track of these transactions somewhere so that I can add them to the Settle EDC Batch? I'm guessing I have a few thousand dollars in MC transactions that I haven't been paid for. EEEK

Please help! Jennifer

You're pretty much out of luck. If you are running a very old version of RMS 1.2 and had not selected the "Mask Card Numbers" option, you might be able to recover the card numbers from the receipts in the Journal. That option was made mandatory in RMS a couple of years ago - i may be mistaken, but I think that was on 1.2 SP3. If you are running a version more recent than that, the card numbers are always masked and you have no way to recover them. Since you had turned of EDC, the transactions were never sent to your processor at all, so they are not going to be able to recover these for you.

Drat. But thanks for the info. I've asked Microsoft about putting a flag in RMS so that the cashier will be notified that he/she needs to manually verify the card when that option is unchecked. I'd like to see something to the effect of "This credit card cannot be verified through RMS. Please call your merchant service provider for an authorization code". This SNAFU was able to go on unnoticed because my cashiers saw no difference between the Visa transactions (which were being verified) and the MC transactions (not being verified). Then, when settling the EDC no one noticed (who really looks?) that there were no MC transactions. I take full responsibility for the error (I was trying to switch over to another merchant service processor that provided a separate terminal; that fell thru and I missed this one option when trying to restore old settings). However, when I brought the request for a flag up to the Microsoft rep, he said that this issue has been brought up before. He also didn't know why it was not addressed. Jennifer
