OPOS Driver

I'm using an Epson TM88IV, I am using a cable that converts the parrellel to a USB port. I have downloaded the Epson ADK program. I can not get it to work. If I select the TM88IVU it can not find the USB port. I don't know what to do. Any help?

You have a parallel printer that you are trying to plug into a USB Port, or you have a USB Printer that you are trying to plug into a Parallel port?

I think the first thing above is the only one that exists, but you described the second...

Anyway, if you have a parallel printer, select the TM88ivP (for both the printer and the cash drawer). The cable/adapter you are using should be assigning itself a port number, which you will need to find - once the cable is detected, go to My Computer, Properties, Hardware Tab, open Hardware manager and expand Ports - there should be an extra LPT Port listed and it may have a description that let's you know it's not a built in port.

I have a parallel printer that I am trying to plug into a USB Port. The Device Manager has 1 LPT port Listed. Nothing else. I know it is recognizing the printer because it pops up with the new hardware wizard. I can't seem to get my driver to work wether I try through OPOS or windows.

Do you have a physical Parallel port on the computer, or only USB? If only USB, then the port you are seeing listed is the printer port you need to specify when setting up the printer. If you have a physical LPT port, then the cable is not doing it's job and you may have to install drivers for it.

When setting up the printer, you need to specify it as a Parallel printer - it's the cable that's supposed to be doing the emulation between USB and LPT.

If you're still having trouble, you may need to contact Epson or the vendor you purchased from for help. I always try to avoid using emulators - they end up complicating more than they simplify. Either get the printer model that works with your avialable ports or add an expansion card to provide extra ports...
