Re: OPOS Driver VS Windows Driver

Chris,

I found it. When I change the font names and sizes in the font in the Page Settings section, should I delete the lines referring to bold, underline, reverse, etc.? So far nothing's happening with the printer. I have it in COM1 (both the driver and port itself), it's on, and it is connected.

Thanks, Matt

Loading thread data ...

I just changed Font names in the "Receipt Template" to my choice and have left everything as default.

It works for me.

As to your "nothing happening with the printer", what do you mean ? Is it related to the subject of the thread ?

Chris,

I just solved it. My baud rate was too high, so now it works perfectly!

Thanks for your help!

I have a follow-up question that came up, though. How do I send a "cut" command during a print? We need to receipt from the TM88, but printer 2 is already being used by a full-page printer.

Thanks, Matt

Using Windows drivers? Change the font to "Control" (or EpsonControl, I can't remember) and print the letter "C" (if that doesn't work, than it's "K"). FYI, the letter "D" opens the drawer.

Is there a snippet or something that I can look at? Mine's not working yet. Should I use a table or text line?

Thanks, Matt

Never mind. Here's what I found: "C" and "D" both pop the drawer "P" cuts the paper

I've run into another problem. Sometimes the client doesn't want to print to the receipt printer but to a laser, and I still need the drawer to pop. Is there a DOS command or some kind of function that will force the drawer to pop when the transaction ends, like an add-in function? Maybe a POS button?

Thanks, Matt

I don't think so, not unless you use OPOS - otherwise you have to send the drawer command to the Epson, and the only way for RMS to do that is to print a receipt or setup the drawer in OPOS (I don't think you can setup just the drawer with OPOS, you probably have to also setup the printer in OPOS)

Thanks, Jason. I'll do some research and cross my fingers.

Did you ever get the Windows driver to work and if so, which driver? Epson seems to have several different Windows drivers including some old ones that work with the TM-T88iii but I haven't found the one with the paper cut option or control fonts mentioned.

The install program is called ATM_301bE.exe. I downloaded it from Epson's web site. I think it's the developer section. You have to register to get it.

While it's installing you must choose the port and the software to install. You also have to configure the COM port during the install. The downside of the Windows driver is that you can use OPOS functions, like making sure that the drawer is closed, but can cut paper and pop the drawer.

Good luck, Matt
