PC Charge Express-Point of Sale Integration Issues

I have set up PC Charge Express to integrate with RMS Point of Sale. I have entered the cashier (express does not give you a option to set up a "user") as 1 and have set up the register in POS as 1. I can process a credit card in PC Charge Express, but when I process the credit card in POS I recieve the "user not found" error. I have worked with the RMS reseller and followed his suggestions (including changing to REG1) and nothing has worked so far. I am using POS verison 1.07 and PC Charge Version 5.7 1H. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be welcome!

Theresa, I recently experienced what you described. First, PC Charge Express doesn't work with RMS. RMS only works with PC Charge Pro or Server. You will need to upgrade to at least PC Charge Pro. Unfortunately, to do so PC Charge now requires that you purchase their 1 year support plan in order to upgrade. PC Charge referred me to Provantage.com for the best price on this.

After you install the upgrade you will need to call PC Charge technical support. MS instructions say to change userID1 to 1 not the cashier to 1. This won't work. User1 or UserID1 is the system user and cannot be changed. PC Charge tech support will issue you an additional user license free of charge so that you can create a new user ID to "1"

My suggestion would be to get rid of PC Charge all together. Use RMS's built CC Integration. If you want to keep your Merchant Provider and they are not ablel to processon the Vital/VisaNet Network you can contact TPI Software for there RMS Plug-in and they will most likely be able to accomodate you.

PC Charge just informed me that I would have to have PC Charge Payment Server. I am a bit upset since I specifically discussed this with the Sales rep before I made the purchase.

Live and learn.....I will discuss the upgrade with our bean counters and hope they go for it.

Rob,

Since I'm already invested in PC Charge, I hate to throw more money somewhere else, but will talk with TPI to see what the cost would be...since it looks like I will have to upgrade PC Charge as it is. May be cheaper to go with TPI. Do you have a contact name or number there you could share?
