941 Warning and Dongle

Nov 28, 2006 2 Replies

Because of hardware issues, I have put the usb dongle on a non POS computer. I receive the 941 warning on the POS computer, but everything seems to work fine after clicking OK to continue. I can logon to SO mgr on multiple computers, and the POS works, even with more than 5 items on a sales transaction. I have only 1 register set up. (The hardware issue revolve around scanners not working (power) on the same computer as the dongle).

My question is, even though everything is working now, what am I missing? What problems might arise?

You just have to start RMS on the system that has the dongle attached first each day. Either Manager or POS should work for activating the dongle. Make sure that each workstation has a unique register number, whether it is used as a POS or just for Manager -they should all have their own register number (SO Administrator, File/Configuration, Register Tab). Also, each register number used needs to be set up in Manager - Database/Registers/Register List.

If both the manager station with the Dongle and the POS have the same register number, you will keep getting the message that the dongle is no longer found, but as long as you open on the dongle station first, you will not go into eval mode. You will get errors statingthat the register is already in use if you try to open POS on both of them at once...
