Is it configured as OPOS or Windows?

if you look in the hardware section of control panel, has the printer been setup as true USB or has it created a virtual com port (under LPT and COM ports). If it is a virtual com port, you might want to check out the properties and see if there is an advanced button, if so select that and see if there is a tick box for 'serial printer' if so, set that on and your problem should disappear.
